About the challenge

The DTP Online Hackathon Rwanda 2025 is your opportunity to tackle real-world problems and showcase your skills in Data Science.

There will be two phases of assessment:

Phase 1: Individual assessment

Phase 2: Teamwork assessment - addressing real-world challenges in the community and providing solutions 

Build innovative solutions that create real impact in Rwanda and beyond.

Requirements

What to Build

Build a project that addresses one of the provided hackathon challenges:

- UI/UX Design: Design a high-fidelity prototype for the Umuganda Attendance

What to Submit

- GitHub or GitLab repository link with all code and documentation.

- Live demo link (where required, e.g., for Full Stack and Cloud projects).

- README.md including:

  - Project overview and challenge addressed

  - Setup/usage instructions

  - List of features and technologies

  - Demo/test credentials (if applicable)

- Presentation slides (optional, but recommended).

- Bonus: Screenshots, architecture diagrams, or demo video.

Judging Criteria

  • Technical Implementation
    How well does the project use technology? Are the code, architecture, and tools appropriate and robust?
  • Challenge Fit
    Does the solution clearly address the chosen challenge? Are all required features and goals met?
  • Innovation & Creativity
    How original is the approach or idea? Are there unique features, creative solutions, or new perspectives?
  • Impact & Relevance
    What is the real-world value of the project? Does it solve a meaningful problem or benefit users/stakeholders?
  • Scalability & Sustainability
    Can this solution be scaled up or adapted to new contexts? Is it sustainable in the long term?
